This historic Celebration was the culmination of over 170 years of prayer!
On Saturday, March 26, 2022, people from all walks of life gathered for an historic legal and spiritual recognition of what the 1852 Dred Scott decision meant to this state and this nation. Hosted by Speak to the City, Dred Scott Heritage Foundation and One City Won, event speakers included members of the Scott, Blow, LaBeaume, Taney, and Plessy families, and in-person or video messages from Senators Steven Roberts and Mike Moon, Pastor Will Ford III who shared the story of the Kettle Pot (https://willfordministries.com/2015/11/29/the-prayers-of-my-forefathers-former-slaves-echo-today-150-years-after-the-civil-war/), Jonathan Tremaine Thomas of Civil Righteousness and prayer leaders from First Nations Restoration Ministries, One City Won and St. Louis Reconciliation Network.
People from around the country participated live and virtually to celebrate what our state legislators have done after several years of the many prayers of intercessors in Missouri and beyond, and Dred Scott Heritage Foundation and friends asking for this renouncement. Everyone celebrated and learned why the state decision was so critical and almost as egregious as the federal one. The Celebration of Gratitude was held at Central Baptist Church where Harriet Scott was a member on the rolls. Another significant event was celebrated the next day as the anniversary of the church is on the same date as the Missouri state decision: March 22,1846, six years prior.
Special Guest Prophetic Worship Leader Paul "PJ" Bill, Jr. led us in dynamic worship, while Special guest speaker "Namoo" Carolan shared her story of faith and sacrifice as an intercessor to the US from her native India!
